Texas Hold 'em No Limit
Game tip 16: Play your cards close to your chest
The intention of Texas Hold 'em poker is to form a 5-card poker hand. The one with the highest combination wins the 'pot'. There will be played with 2 up to 10 players.
How does it work?
1) The first player gets the dealer button. This player shuffles and deals the cards. The two players immediate left of the dealer post a mandatory blind bet: small and big blind. The big blind has the double value of the small blind.
2) The dealer will deal 2 closed cards to each player. Now the 1st betting round takes place. The players have 3 choices: go along with the big blind (call), raise (raise) or quit (fold). When each player has staked the same amount the betting round has ended.
3) The dealer puts 3 face-up cards (flop) in the middle of the table. Thus now all still active players have 5 cards (2 own and 3 jointly). Now the 2nd ante round takes place. Players can place (bet) a bet or decide to abandon the stakes (checken). If each player has staked the same amount the betting round has ended.
4) Now the dealer puts a 4th turn-up card (turncard) on table and the 3rd betting round takes place.
5) The dealer puts the 5th turn-up (rivercard) on table and the last betting round takes place. The player with the best poker hand of 5 cards wins the pot (a combination of the 5 turn-up cards and the 2 in the hand). When 2 or more players have the best poker hand the pot will be split up.
6) The dealer button moves 1 position to the left and the new play round can start.
